Meet Beverly Yoakum!
Thank you for the opportunity to serve here at RAISE Christian Academy. I know God is doing wonderful things here, and I’m excited to bring new and innovative ideas to the school to achieve greater outcomes in His name. Here’s a little bit about me:
In 2006 I achieved an MS Ed. from Nova Southeastern University. I have a passion for creating spaces of excellence where ordinary things become extraordinary. My entrepreneurial spirit has been responsible for growing schools, organizations, and other small businesses in my professional career. One of the most interesting things in my past was being called by God to open a Christian Coffee House from the ground up, providing bands from all over to play Christian music in my hometown. “It’s not about the coffee, it’s about the maker.”
From 1989 to March of 2014, I owned and operated private Christian schools and childcare centers in Ohio. As my schools grew, they spanned over multiple counties, grossed several million, and provided quality education and safe care to thousands of children.
One of my greatest honors has been to serve on the Early Childhood Advisory Committee representing Religious Exempt Schools. There are 22 professionals selected across the State of Virginia for this role.
Some of my professional achievements include a Reggio Emilia, Italy, Study Tour in 2007, receiving the True Hero award in 2012, serving as a School Accreditation Team member for the Lutheran Church MS, achieving Level 6 Ohio Professional standing, and several collaborative grant awards with various organizations and businesses.
Currently, I serve as a CLASS observer certified in infant, toddler, preschool. This is position gathering information on the interactions between teachers and children in the southeastern region of Virginia. The experiences are recorded and evaluated to assist the centers in achieving high-quality experiences to ensure a strong future for Virginias youngest.
I appreciate the trust that has been given to me to serve God in this way. Together with Him we can do great things.
